This page contains important information which you will need for installing and using the software, so you are strongly advised to print this page for future reference before downloading.

NOTE: 11 September 2025 - The DMAP software has now been made available for free download on the basis of no entitlement to email support from Alan Morton except for users who have previously purchased earlier versions of DMAP.

If you are already a user of DMAP and you use this facility for upgrading to this new version, please drop me a message so that I can update my records.

Downloading:

Click on the link below to download the installation file, and save the file in a folder of your choice or on your desktop.

Installing the software:

  1. After downloading, open the compressed folder, dmapsetup.zip, and run the Setup program, setup.exe, by double-clicking on it.
  2. The Installation wizard will start and will guide you through the installation procedure.
  3. If you are upgrading an existing installation of DMAP, you should install the new version in the same folder as the old version, normally, C:\Dmapw
  4. On completion of the installation you should see the following icons under DMAPW on the Start Menu: DMAP, DMAP Documentation, and MAPRECS.
NOTE: The downloaded software is safe and free of viruses, as supplied via this website, but it is not digitally-signed. Consequently, you may get security warnings about 'Unknown publisher' when you try to install it. If you receive a warning advising you not to run it, click on 'More info', then 'Run anyway'.

Using the software:

Before using the software to produce maps, please read the Conditions of Use section of the Introduction and General Information topic of the in-built Help system.

Detailed instructions for using DMAP and for setting up your own data files are given in the DMAP Help system. This Help system is available when you are running DMAP, but a listing of all the topics in the Help system is also provided via the 'DMAP Documentation' icon on the Start Menu.

In addition to the detailed information in the DMAP Help system, it is strongly recommended that you refer to the following pages on the DMAP Web site for important supplementary information which is designed to get you started with your own data more quickly:
